You may be thinking that your problems are not serious enough to warrant therapy. I believe that everyone should have the chance of exploring their lives in a careful and productive way. Once you feel confident in who you are, and how you are living, it will be clear to us both, and at that point, we will end your therapy.
Individual therapy focuses on the individual’s immediate or near future concerns. It allows individuals to explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change or better understand. I help my client to set personal goals and work toward desired change.
As a psychotherapist I help couples strengthen and protect their marital relationship, in addition to helping them build intimacy and learn more about each other. I help my couples to make some personal changes in their behaviours, habits and words. By helping couples explore their unmet needs they can figure out what changes each partner is willing to make to create the kind of marriage they want. I facilitate honest and open discussion between couples, so they can mutually arrive at a solution to their issues.
The goal of family therapy is to help everyone in the family understand and support each other and work through difficult situations. This type of therapy can be helpful to families who are feeling overwhelmed, sad and angry; when you are unsure of how to move forward; or when you feel that you are repeating the same harmful behaviours over and over. If a family is dealing with changes associated with illness, mental health and substance use problems, unemployment, moving, ageing, divorce, trauma, and death and grieving, family therapy can be helpful.
In therapy it is important to make sure you feel comfortable when becoming vulnerable. Couches and comfy chairs are nice but with my offer of virtual appointments, you can book and meet with me from the comfort of your home.
